The chart illustrates how much it costs each country to produce a barrel of oil and gas. This is helpful as we head into OPEC’s meeting on Sunday to see who can and who can not afford to “freeze” production with oil trading near $40/barrel.
If US Shale in the above graph was at $24, then why did a lot of the Shale players stop production. They would still be profitable and drilling. There are some problems with the above graph.
Thanks for this chart. Very insightful….looks like there will be no deal to limit production or even freeze it as for Saudi and Iran it costs less than $10 to produce a barrel. Makes no sense for Iran to limit their production as there is a good profit margin….even if were $20 per barrel.
