The president just tweeted this: “Getting VERY close to a BIG DEAL with China. They want it, and so do we!” Markets rallied off this same language we have been hearing for 18 months. We are withholding comment on this tweet except to say there had better be an imminent BIG DEAL! More to come.

The fed today…blah blah easy money…blah blah data dependent…blah blah it’s not QE…blah blah. USMCA…sorry…not that big of a deal. It just tinkers with NAFTA. This is not earth shaking or life changing. We already do a ton of trade with Mexico and Canada. Could be better…could be worse. Impeachment…can’t wait until it is over….

Last night, futures were down. Yesterday, it was negative talk on trade…which hit markets. Today…the WH leaks out the trade deal is going well. Futures gap up. There is no template for this nonsense except to take a step back for the second. We don’t think it is hyperbole to say the stance has changed…
